Our Events
Kumda Jameen Pujan:
First, we went to clear the site designated for the Kumhda project. Together, we cleaned the area and began preparations for the event. On that very day, we went door-to-door to inform the residents about the program scheduled for the following day.
The day of the event presented several challenges, as many people were away. Consequently, we had to go door-to-door once again to personally invite the residents.
Gradually, people gathered, and the program commenced. Residents from both Kumhda and Marda Poti attended the event. Women, men, and children alike participated with great enthusiasm. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, prayers were offered, and the occasion was celebrated with joy.
We briefed everyone about the new Srijanshala building—its objectives, and the pivotal role it would play in the development of both the children and the village. All members of the Chinhari team were also present. Despite facing numerous challenges, the program proved to be a resounding success.

Inauguration of Srijan Shala:
14th and 15th January, 2026 was a day filled with excitement for everyone at Chinhari. Hamar Srijan Shala embarked on its journey in the villages of Mardapoti and Dokal respectively. It was a moment when we shared our individual journey with the community, had conversations with them, shared our new idea of reimagining teaching and learning processes. Most importantly we shared our belief of nurturing the seed, a young mind, giving them an environment of encouragement, curiosity and care. We were joined by friends and well wishers from many parts of the world. Glimpses of the days can be viewed in our gallery.
One Year of Srijan Shala:
Hamar Srijan Shala completed its first year and it was celebrated with the children, their parents and the community. Held in the two villages in the month of February, the completion of one year was a celebration of an idea, effort and hard work. The day was marked by dress up’s by the children who portrayed different people and livelihood of the villages, songs and dances on Gondi and Chattisgarhi, art workshops with the parents where they worked on their creativity with their children. The event was also marked by our teachers sharing their experiences as well as the challenges. It paved the way for new ideas to make learning relevant and rooted, fun and focussed, adaptive and active for the young learners in the community.

Meeting with DICCI
Community and community building has always been the priority of Chinhari. It believes in sharing opportunities that will enable others to have new imaginations.
With this intention, Chinhari planned a visit by the officials from DICCI (Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce) to visit the village. The officers shared their insight with the community in matters of entrepreneurship and starting small businesses. Chinhari helped to build a bridge of communication between the community and the government body for future possibilities of collaboration.
Co-learning and Experiential Exchange between
India and New Zealand:
In March 2025, we had the opportunity to welcome and host three distinguished guests from New Zealand. We learnt about the life world of the Maori community of New Zealand, their stories and struggles. Our discussions, conversations, songs and stories were moments to connect with our sisters from another part of the work

BMU Immersion
(4th Nov, 2025- 20th Nov, 2025)
In November 2025, a 15-day journey of learning and mutual understanding took place between BMU students and members of Chinhari. During this time, the students engaged in a series of workshops and activities. In particular, they observed ‘Avla Bhat’, a festival in Dokal village, gaining an understanding of the pivotal role festivals play in fostering community cohesion - a process in which girls, in particular, play a significant and active part. Through activities conducted with children at Chinhari’s open learning centres (called Hamar Srijanshala) and interactions with women in the village, the students gained a firsthand appreciation of rural life, education, and the role of women
